Joan Riley

Joan M Riley(nee Fitzpatrick), 85

Passed away peacefully on Saturday March 2, 2019 at Southern Ocean Medical Center after a long illness. Joan was Born in Brooklyn New York, and moved in her later years to Manahawkin New Jersey and subsequently Barnegat, New Jersey. Joan leaves behind her loving husband of 65 years Joseph, Children Joseph (LuAnne) Riley, Maureen Kraft, Christopher (Sylvia) Riley and Kathleen Powers. Grandchildren Tara (Alex) Akkerman, Joseph, Jillian, Jake, Julia and Jared Riley, and Great granddaughter Sophie Akkerman, her sister Dorothy Boscaino as well as many nieces and nephews.

In her early years, Joan worked for NY Telephone Company as an operator, ,as supervisor at a pharmaceutical company. Later she became a crossing guard. All the kids (and parents) loved her! She had an artistic talent and spent many years hand painting shirts that people just loved. Joan's favorite job was that of a wonderful and adored wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Joan’s passions were Atlantic City, she loved to play bingo, slot machines, and cards. She loved to watch old westerns on tv. She was so loved, and will be remembered, and be missed by many.

Visiting will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm with a funeral service, 8:30pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ  08050. Cremation will be private.
