Elizabeth Cahill

Elizabeth (Betty) Cahill, age 87 of Manahawkin, passed away on December 3rd, 2020 peacefully at home with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Maude and Frederick Zacher in Philadelphia, PA, and lived in Westmont, NJ before moving to Manahawkin full time 33 years ago.  She will always be remembered for being a wonderful mother of nine as well as a great friend to all who knew her.

Betty was preceded in death by her oldest son John Cahill and oldest daughter Elizabeth Headrick; brothers Fred, David and Harry, and sisters Mary and May.

She is survived by her husband John (Jack) Cahill, sons Thomas Cahill, Joseph Cahill, Dennis Cahill, William Cahill and James Cahill, and daughters Patricia Kryston and Theresa Susterowitz.  Betty also had ten grandchildren, two step granddaughters, two great-grandsons, one step great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.

Children gave Betty so much joy that she spent many of her retirement years watching the neighbor’s children.  She was known as Aunt Betty to dozens.  Betty also loved her games of Parcheesi.  Marathon sessions were common.

Visiting will be held Friday, December 11, 2020, from 11am until her funeral service, 12:15pm, at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ, 08050.  Interment will follow, 2pm, at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ  08562.

Due to Covid 19 guidelines, the funeral home is operating at restricted capacity. Please note that face masks and social distancing are required at all times for all in attendance of all services.
