Brunhilda Rzempoluch

Brunhilda (nee Weiss) Rzempoluch passed away on April 1st at her home in Ship Bottom, NJ following a three-and-half year decline in health after suffering a stroke in 2018.  She was born on February 18th, 1941 to Richard Weiss and Frieda Weiss of Ridgefield, NJ.  She attended Cliffside Park High School for three years, and graduated in the first graduating class at Ridgefield Memorial High School.  She attended Berkley Secretarial School in New York City and went on to work at Maxwell House Coffee in Hoboken.  While attending CPHS, she met the love of her life, Theodore Rzempoluch.

Bruni and Ted married in 1962 and went on to have two daughters, Blaire and Paige, settling next to her parents in Ridgefield, NJ.  Those whose lives were touched by Bruni’s kindness would describe her as ‘one-of-a-kind’ and a ‘force of nature’.  In her teens, she was a competitive gymnast, tight-rope walker, and cheerleading captain.  Throughout her life, she was an active school volunteer, cheerleading coach, short-fielder on the Jingle Inn women’s softball team and rescuer of stray animals and people.  She spent over 25 years working as a Lab Technician at Lever Brothers in Edgewater, NJ before retiring with Ted to Ship Bottom, NJ.  In retirement, she enjoyed her status as the ‘unofficial’ Mayor of South Third Street.  She loved spending weekends at the Manahawkin Flea Market where she knew every vendor by name, crafting, entertaining guests, feeding the seagulls, caring for her granddaughter Breanna, traveling, seeing Broadway shows, Mary Higgins Clark novels, TV crime shows, The Hallmark Channel and a nice glass of Rose.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ted, their daughters Blaire and Paige, granddaughter Breanna, twin brother Gregor Weiss, cousin Karen Schottle Mariano, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held privately, with a Celebration of Life to be announced over the next few months.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Doctors Without Borders, www. doctorswithoutborders.org ,  or Friends of the Bergen County Animal Shelter (F.O.C.A.S.), PO Box 439, Hasbrouk Heights, NJ 07604.
