Tricia Ann (Wallace) Becknell, of Manahawkin, NJ passed away peacefully Monday, March 20th, at the age of 79, with her loving children at her side. Born to Dorys Marie (Ward) and William Wallace III, in Tallman, NY, on October 5, 1937, Tricia graduated from Fountain Hill High School in Center Valley PA, and received an A.A. from Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ. Tricia raised two children in Franklin Lakes, NJ with Donald, her husband of 45 years.
Tricia was a passionate animal advocate, and was instrumental in the creation of RARI (Ramapo Animal Refuge, Inc.), later to become RBARI (Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc.). Tricia was also inspired by art, craft, and days gone by. To that end, she operated an antique shop in Warwick, NY, Maggie's Muddle. With her family, Tricia shared her joy of the NY Mets, Jeopardy, and Democratic politics. In her later years, Tricia enjoyed amusement parks and feeding the ducks with her grandchildren.
Tricia is survived by her children, Jeffra Ann (Liz) of San Diego, CA, and Daniel Charles (Kim) of Arlington, VA, and her grandchildren Remy (16), Jordan (13), Michaline (11), Danny (11), and Truman (8). She is also survived by her maternal Aunt, Beverly Rose, of Sloatsburg, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband Donald.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, April 1, from 11:30am to 1:30pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Rd., Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
